CANADIAN
ARTISTS FOR
INTERNATIONAL
RELEASE
OTTAWA’S
AWARD-WINNING
BAND MONKEYJUNK
AND
VANCOUVER-BASED

NEW CDs IN JUNE
Stony Plain
Records, the
Edmonton,
Alberta-based
roots music
label, has
signed
international
recording
agreements with
two Canadian
artists,
MonkeyJunk and
Kenny “Blues
Boss” Wayne.
Both have
completed new
CDs; they will
be released on
Stony Plain in
Canada, the U.S.
and most
international
markets. In
Europe and the
UK the CDs will
be released on
the French-based
label, Dixie
Frog.
MonkeyJunk, the
award-winning
Ottawa band,
draws heavily on
the legends of
the blues and
translates those
influences into
a contemporary
blend of what
the group
defines as
“swamp R&B, soul
boogie and
bedroom funk.”
The new CD,
To Behold,
was recorded in
Ottawa-area
studios and
co-produced by
Ken Friesen
(Tragically Hip,
Blue Rodeo) and
Steve Marriner,
and will be
released
internationally
on June 21.
Fronted by
vocalist and
harmonica player
Marriner, the
trio is
completed by
guitarist Tony D
and drummer Matt
Sobb. To
Behold
is the band’s
second album —
the first was
the
independently
released
Tiger in Your
Tank,
which was named
